Animals have been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family deeply involved in animal rescue, surrounded by dogs, cats, birds, snakes, turtles, chameleons, and many other animals. Caring for animals has never been just a hobby for me. It's truly a lifelong passion and a huge part of who I am. I currently volunteer with both the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) in Washington, DC, and the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA), where I've received hands-on training in animal handling, behavior, and shelter care. I'm Fear Free certified and have completed advanced shelter training that allows me to work with dogs at the highest behavioral handling levels, including reactive, extremely fearful, anxious, and more challenging dogs. I'm comfortable working with animals of all personalities, temperaments, and backgrounds, and I understand the importance of patience, positive reinforcement, and adapting my approach to each animal's individual needs. I also regularly foster shelter animals, helping them decompress, build confidence, learn new skills, and prepare for their forever homes. One of my favorite parts of working with dogs is training and helping them overcome behavioral challenges. I'm particularly passionate about canine behavior and hope to pursue professional dog training in the future. At home, I'm also a proud cat mom to four wonderful cats, so I have plenty of experience understanding feline behavior, personalities, and needs! Whether your pet is outgoing and playful, shy and sensitive, or needs a little extra patience and understanding, my goal is always to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I don't just care for animals. I understand them, respect their boundaries, and genuinely love earning their trust.
How would you describe your pet’s temperament and behavior? Are they generally confident, shy, anxious, reactive, or easily overstimulated? Are there any specific triggers or behaviors I should be aware of?
I work from home, so I'm around most of the I work full-time, but I live right across the street from my workplace, which gives me a lot of flexibility when it comes to pet care! I'm available for morning walks before work, during my 30-minute lunch break for clients located nearby, and in the evenings starting at 6:30 PM. I'm also available on weekends with much more flexibility. I can also offer boarding in my home for dogs who are crate-trained, comfortable being left alone during working hours, and happy with a morning, lunchtime, and evening potty/walk schedule. For cats, I'm available for drop-in visits at their homes after work and on weekends. Or boarding at my place. I'm always happy to discuss your pet's routine and needs to make sure my schedule is a good fit! day.
